Wheels for Wellbeing Sponsored Walk
On Saturday 25th June 2016 35 committed students from Harris Invictus Academy took part in the Wheels for Wellbeing Sponsored Walk, organised by the Harris Invictus Parents and Community Association (HIPCA) and the Academy. The walk started at the Academy (Lennard Road) and followed a ½ mile loop within West Croydon, supervised by staff and HIPCA.
Wheels for Wellbeing (WfW) is an award-winning charity supporting disabled people of all ages and abilities to enjoy the benefits of cycling. Cycling can be easier than walking, a way to keep independent, fit and healthy, a mobility aid, and a useful form of everyday transport. Inclusive cycling means EVERYONE can cycle regardless of age, health condition or impairment.
The walk started at 10 am and lasted 2 hours. Students recorded walking distances between 1.5-8 miles within this time. Students were in high spirits and were self-motivated, pleased with their distances and miles logged.
Students collected sponsorship from friends and family to support their efforts. The total amount of monies raised was £525.00 all monies will be donated to Wheels for Wellbeing.
We would like to thank those who completed the walk and raised money for Wheels for Wellbeing and thank A5Auto of Croydon for the kind refreshments donations.
