Year 7 Tate Modern Trip
Year 7 enjoyed a great day out to the Tate Modern yesterday. There was a screening of a particularly interesting film on the German artist Gerhard Richter and the students were fascinated to see how he creates his enormous paintings. The students’ understanding of colour theory was supported in studying Richter’s use of colour. Visiting the Tate was a great opportunity to see paintings that they will study in more depth in year 8 like the Pop Artists Roy Lichtenstein and Andy Warhol as the Tate has one of the best collections of their large scale work . All the students were extremely well-behaved and a credit to the Academy.
