Hampton Court
Students from the Yellow and Red faculties enjoyed a visit to Hampton Court on Thursday 26th March 2015. Dodging the showers we walked the magnificent formal gardens by the River Thames and visited the grand apartments of William and Mary. Students were most keen to see the Tudor section of the palace which had once been the home of Henry VIII. We saw traced the journey of a typical royal meal form the Tudor kitchens, through the corridors and onto the great hall with its Tudor symbols and great tapestries where Henry’s guests were fed and entertained. We savoured the opulent beauty of the Chapel Royal with its stunning ceiling and a glimpse back to the pre-reformation churches of the early Tudors.
Staff and students thoroughly enjoyed this shared experience which helped to bring our recent work in History lessons to life.
