H2O Heroes
‘Invictus celebrates its H2O Heroes at London City Hall!
A team of 5 students were invited to take part in a STEM project surrounding Water Conservation on a local and global scale. The project was run by Global Action Plan, an NGO that specialises in sustainable behavioural change, and facilitated by Ms Bent, the Head of Science.
Over eight weeks, the students took part in 3 sessions, which enabled them to think about water conservation as a modern world issue and come up with campaigns which could raise awareness at Invictus. The additional sessions, on a Friday afternoon, allowed the students to come up with a number of ideas including class surveys, posters for tutor groups and a presentation for adults.
All of their hard work culminated in a celebration event down at City Hall, on Tuesday 27th March, where the team had to present and showcase their work.
The first part of the event, was a marketplace, where each school had their own stall to showcase their project to a number of different people in timed slots. These hugely important people included Thames Water representatives, STEM London Divisional Leader, and even the Mayor’s own City Hall staff member!
The second part of the event allowed the three finalists to present their project to the auditorium. Although Invictus didn’t make the final three, the students were extremely happy with how the day went and the opportunity to speak to a number of different (and influential) people.
A fantastic achievement and a great day to be remembered!’
