Art
We are committed to creating a culture of high aspirations and achievement in Art and Design. We provide all students with learning opportunities (both practical and theory) to engage in Art, Craft and Design and encourage creative exploration, imagination and gathering culturally rich inspiration from the world around them (past, present and future).
Students will be taught to develop their creativity and ideas, use their imagination and increase their skills and knowledge when using a broad range of 2D and 3D materials and equipment. Progression maps ensure every student has full access to a rich and diverse art curriculum.
Students will be taught the skills to develop a critical understanding of artists and makers, expressing reasoned judgements that can inform their own work and ideas. They will be taught how to use a range of techniques to record their observations in sketchbooks and other media to explore their ideas and taught drawing for different purposes including primary and secondary observations, to communicate an idea, for diagrams, expression, from imagination and planning.
Students will develop life skills, including: observation, analysis, creativity, decision making, communication through visual and written forms, problem solving, presentation skills, project management, evaluation and making skills.
